What do you use an ear syringe for

An ear syringe is a medical device to clean the ear canal of, among other things, earwax. An ear syringe usually works by squirting body-temperature water or other fluid into the ear to remove built-up wax or debris. It is important to be careful when using an ear syringe to avoid injury to the ear.

What differences are there in manually operated ear syringes

The metal ear syringes are available in different sizes, the most handy is the 100 ml, but you can also opt for a smaller one of 50 ml or a larger one of 150 ml. There is a difference in quality, the most durable are the A-quality syringes. It is important to clean the ear syringe thoroughly after each use, otherwise bacteria and other micro-organisms such as fungi can accumulate in the ear syringe. Depending on the guidelines, you can opt for household cleaning or sterilization, taking into account that the soft parts such as rubbers cannot withstand high temperatures. For smooth spraying you can opt for medical silicone spray. A special ear syringe is the Henke ear syringe. You place the hose part in a container with water so that you can always spray with a maximum volume of 10 ml through suction. Water does not have to be sucked in all the time as with the 50, 100 or 150 ml syringes.

What other ear syringes are there

Another system for cleaning ears is the Bionix otoclear ear syringes. We have 2 types of syringes, a smaller one and a larger one. The advantage is that it is easy to clean and that the ear tips are thrown away after use, which prevents cross-contamination. You can also opt for disposable plastic ear syringes that can be thrown away after each use. More hygienic are the electric ear syringes where the disposable ear tips are thrown away after each treatment and the water in the basin does not come into direct contact with the ear canal. The ear syringes can be adjusted differently regarding the power of the water jet. It is important not to spray directly on the eardrum to avoid perforations. Given the low cleaning requirements, electric ear syringes are preferred. However, these ear syringes do require some practice to remove the ear plug correctly.

When to use a cerumen loop or cotton swabs

You can use cerumen loops or ear tweezers to remove ear plugs. There are different types and sizes without and with lighting. There are different sizes of cotton swabs, with or without a cotton ball. They are usually made of wood that is thrown away after use or metal.

What collection materials are available for ear syringes

We have various collection systems for collecting the water that comes out of the ear. What you can use are the renal cymbals, which can be made of different materials such as plastic or metal. We also have a collection cup that is very easy to use.

When are you going to suck out an ear?

If there is earwax in the ear canal and you should not syringe out an ear, you can use suction systems. This may be the case, for example, if there is a hole in the eardrum. When syringing out the ears, water can enter the middle ear, which can cause infections or complaints such as dizziness and vomiting. In that case you use a suction pump. For ear suction, the lightest pump is sufficient, whereby you attach a suction cannula (from Frazier or Rosen) to the plastic tube that can suction the ear in the ear canal.

How to get a foreign object out of the ear canal

You can use the Bionix illuminated ear curette to remove a foreign object such as a bead from the ear canal. The light source makes it easy to see where the object is and if you go past the object, you can get behind the object by tightening it and maneuver it out. You can also use a metal cerumen hook for this or ear tweezers.
